Hearing of voters put up for deletion starts at Mamlatdar

GPCC VICE PREZ UNHAPPY OVER TIMING, CONDITIONS BY AUTHORITIES

VASCO
The hearing of voters from Mormugao constituency whose names were allegedly put for deletion began at the Mormugao Mamlatdar office on Tuesday morning.

While sources said the hearing will take place between 11 am and 1 pm from Tuesday to Thursday, GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar claimed the hearing would go on till December 24 and then continue from December 27 till December 29.

“I am not satisfied with the hearing because the objectors were not present at all and only people whose names are put for deletion had arrived,” Amonkar told reporters.

“In some instances where several names of the family were deleted, the heads of the families arrived for the hearing with documents as their children had gone to work, but they were told that the entire family must come.”

“Some people living on rent were told to get the electricity bill of the house and also an affidavit from the owner of the houses that they were living. They were given a time-frame of one hour only, after which I argued with authorities.”

Amonkar said authorities then summoned the police to block him from entering the office.

“What was even worse is that people were called at 10 am till 12 am, but the hearing went on to 6 pm and so much time was consumed. This left senior citizens and women with children in the queue without food and water. Some diabetic persons were also standing without medicines and food and the hearing today got over at 6.30 pm," said Amonkar.
