The seasonal outlook for Goa vis-a-vis the temperature from March to May, 2021 looks bleak with continuous rise in maximum and minimum temperatures above the normal standards.
IMD-Goa informed that the temperatures are expected to be higher than normal by two to three degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday accompanied by light rain showers in isolated places
As per present observations temperatures, the temperatures may not rise up to the criteria for heat wave, IMD-Goa stated.
“At coastal stations maximum temperature will be around 35 degrees Celsius and inland stations may see a further high value by two to three degree Celsius based on local climatology and topography,” it was informed.
The rise in temperature is because of prolonged easterly-south easterly winds in the daytime. The same condition is likely to prevail till Friday and gradual fall in maximum is likely thereafter.
With increase in temperature, moisture inflow at 1.5km height and because of thermodynamic properties of atmosphere, conditions are favourable for light rain or thundershowers are predicted at isolated places in both districts till Thursday.
Due to the rise in temperatures, people have been asked to take the necessary precautions and to avoid going out in the sun during peak timings.
