History-sheeter Alex Rony D’Souza, who once faced charges under the National Security Act, has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder case reported last December.
Two minors, aged 15 and 17, aspiring to become criminals, were arrested in the near-fatal assault on criminal Suryakant Kambli alias Surya on December 11, 2023. However, the prime accused remained absconding. Panaji Police informed that ‘meticulous planning and intelligence collected through their sources’ led the team to Alex, who was arrested subsequently.
According to the Panaji police, the school dropouts wanted to venture into crime and as such, decided to attack a person and were apparently groomed by Alex.
The minors, originally hailing from West Bengal and Maharashtra, are not affiliated with any criminal gang and were lodged in Apna Ghar being juvenile delinquents.
Kambli, also a history-sheeter, was brutally attacked by two masked assailants at Caranzalem. They were identified as the two minors.
