OLD GOA
In a shocking incident, the body of a female infant was found mutilated at Siridao four days back, even as Agassaim police are grappling in the dark over the identity of the child.
According to police sources, a labourer first noticed the body dumped in an open area.
“At that time, the body was not mutilated but later stray animals probably attacked the body and by the time police were informed of the incident, the body was found in a mutilated condition,” the sources added.
“The dead infant was about 1-2 months old and a case has been registered against unknown persons for disposing off the body,” the sources informed.
“We conducted investigations in Siridao and surrounding areas to find out if the child is from the area but have not been able to establish any clue,” the police sources stated, while adding that the body was probably dumped by persons from some other area.
The sources further informed that a forensic team as well as a dog squad was pressed in service when the incident first came to light.
“Right now the mutilated body is preserved in the GMC morgue,” the sources stated.
PSI Sagun Sawant is conducting further investigations in the incident.
