Judges return mementoes over declaration of incorrect results at Margao Shigmo

MARGAO

In a development which has kicked up a row of sorts, the Judges who were roped in by the Margao shigmotsav Committee to judge the Romtamell float at the float parade on Sunday have returned their mementoes and honorarium to the Panel.
Reason: The Judges have claimed that the Committee has allegedly announced different winners other than those declared by the panel.
Chairman of the Shigmo float parade, Councilor Ravindra Naik, however, attributed the controversy to the confusion caused by the appointment of two panel of Judges.
The three Judges Anant Agni, Mahendra Faldesai and Suresh Naik have returned their mementoes to the Chairman of the Shigmo panel, on grounds that the winners declared by them were not announced by the panel.
One of the Judges demanded that the Tourism department should conduct an inquiry into the episode to ensure transparency in the events.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Naik has attributed the confusion to the appointment of two panels of judges for the event.
