Former Tivim MLA Kiran Kandolkar has reignited political chatter in Goa, declaring that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) faces a strong anti-incumbency wave and will be voted out in the 2027 Assembly polls.
Drawing parallels with 2012, when the electorate voted for change, Kandolkar said people are “angry and disillusioned” with the BJP, accusing the ruling party of indulging in “Bol Bachchan” instead of real development.
Launching a sharp attack on the present Tivim MLA, Kandolkar alleged neglect of the constituency and asserted that he would “100% contest and win” from Tivim in 2027.
Kandolkar’s return to the political stage has triggered speculation after AAP leader Atishi and Goa unit chief Amit Palekar visited him earlier this week. While confirming Atishi’s offer to join AAP, he maintained that he would first consult Tivim voters and even kept the independent option open.
Interestingly, Kandolkar has traversed multiple political platforms “ BJP, Goa Forward Party, Trinamool Congress “ before laying low after his and wife Kavita’s defeat in 2022.
His renewed ambition adds another twist to Goa’s churning opposition space, where unity “ or the lack of it “ may decide whether the BJP’s grip loosens in 2027.
