A minor girl from Bicholim who was reportedly kidnapped on April 5, was traced to Bagalkot in Karnataka and rescued safely within three days.
According to sources, a police complaint had been filed stating that the minor girl had been kidnapped by an unknown person, while gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20,000 in cash were also found missing from the residence.
Bicholim police registered a case and an investigation was launched.
During the probe, technical surveillance, human intelligence, and CCTV footage analysis were used to track the minor’s movement. On April 7, her location was traced to the Bagalkot district.
A team rushed to Kudal Sangam and, with the assistance of local police, rescued the girl from the Sangameshwara fair on April 8 at around 1.30 am.
The missing gold ornaments and cash were found in the possession of the minor and were seized under panchanama. Further investigation is in progress.
