The State government has relaxed the mandatory knowledge of Konkani for appointment of Group A posts in the professional colleges and consultants in the Directorate of Health Services.
According to the Recruitment Rules (RR), the knowledge of Konkani is essential for Group A posts in professional colleges and for consultants in the health department.
However, the government has now given liberty to the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) to relax the criteria in case of non-availability of suitable candidates in the said language but otherwise found fit for the posts.
“In case of non-availability of suitable candidates with the knowledge of Konkani, the Goa Public Service Commission may recommend a candidate if candidate if otherwise found fit and this requirement can be relaxed by the Government, on the recommendation of the Goa Public Service Commission, if the Government is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do,” Under Secretary (personnel) Eshant Sawant said in the notification issued.
For the same posts, the knowledge of Marathi has been made desirable.
