MARGAO
A Preliminary inquiry conducted by the Inspectorate of Factories & Boilers has revealed that there was a small crack in the valve of the ammonia tank that triggered the leakage.
Chief Inspector of Factories & Boilers, P Marathe, said the management of Quality Foods has been directed to keep the plant shut until further orders.
“Our preliminary inquiries have revealed there was a small crack on the valve that triggered the leakage. The leakage was stopped after the operation was shut down,” he said.
Marathe said the inspectorate will issue directions to Quality Foods to make necessary changes or replace the equipment. He said a complaint will be lodged before the Judicial Magistrate First Class if the inquiry nails the management for negligence.
