Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday told the House that the government has appointed Levinson Martins as the new Chairman of the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
Sawant said that Levinson will take charge after the ongoing monsoon session concludes on August 8.
The Chief Minister headed committee had finalized Martins to be the next GSPCB Chairman way back in April.
Following the end of term of Mahesh Patil, the government appointed Secretary Environment to hold the charge pending appointment of the new Chairman.
As an interim arrangement, senior environment engineer Sanjeev Joglekar is holding the charge of Member Secretary GSPCB.
The Board under Patil was constituted in January, 2022. However, delay over appointment of new Chairman and Member Secretary “ held by Shamila Monteiro, forced the government to extend the term of the existing Board by another three months, which too ended in the first week of April.
