Man hacks wife to death in Bicholim, surrenders to cops

BICHOLIM

In a shocking incident, a man allegedly hacked his wife to death with a sword in broad daylight at Vathadev-Bicholim on Friday afternoon and later surrendered to police.

According to Bicholim police, Mainnidin Havangi (32) is alleged to have murdered his wife Rabiya Havangi (24) over domestic disputes aggravated by alleged drug abuse by the accused.

Police said the murder took place shortly after Rabiya was returning home on a scooter after dropping her daughter to tuition classes.

On the way, Mainnidin stopped her scooter and allegedly attacked Rabiya with a sword, causing her severe injures on the neck and the stomach.

She was rushed to the community health centre Bicholim but died while undergoing treatment. The accused later surrendered to the police.

Bicholim police are further investigating the matter under the guidance of Bicholim PI Vijay Rane Sardesai.
