Despite Goa Police’s claims of strict action against noise pollution, loud music continues to blare from clubs along the Anjuna-Vagator coastline, leaving residents frustrated and sleep-deprived.
For residents like Jawish Moniz, sleepless nights have become routine. "The noise goes on until the early hours of the morning, making it impossible to sleep. Last night, most clubs operated till 4 am. Despite complaints, the problem persists," said Moniz, who lives in Vagator.
For Tadeus D’Souza, a resident of Vagator’s Ozrant area, the situation has become unbearable.
"It’s terrible here. They play deafening music throughout the night. I’ve been calling the police at 2 and 3 am, but no one responds," he said. Frustrated by the relentless noise, he temporarily shifted to his residence in Mumbai for respite.
Desmond Alvares, a resident of Assagao and petitioner in the ongoing High Court contempt case against loud music, echoed similar concerns.
"Everybody is blasting music. I have been calling the police station and sending messages to SP and even the DGP in the middle of the night and early morning, but no action is forthcoming. They read my messages but do not respond," he lamented.
Alvares further pointed out that while police claim to be taking action, their response has been limited to registering FIRs. "None of these cases have been chargesheeted," he added.
