The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) has launched the Pan India Outreach and Awareness Campaign.
Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, South Goa, Sarika Nilesh Fal Dessai has informed that NALSA has devised a nationwide legal awareness and outreach programme to be carried out from October 13 to November 13.
Under this programme, the Legal Services Authority will reach every village panchayat and organize awareness and outreach activities. She informed that the objective of this mission is to raise awareness of the rights, entitlements and remedies of individuals and also educate public on welfare laws.
Fal Dessai has further informed that the campaign will focus on spreading awareness about welfare laws and schemes enacted for empowerment of people and also to educate the masses on Free Legal Aid and rights and remedies available under various laws.
A special campaign is also proposed to be conducted to provide basic legal assistance to persons confined in prisons and in child care institutions.
The Legal Services Authority will ascertain that every person is represented by a lawyer at the trial or for filing of appeals for bail or against conviction and also providing free legal counseling services or assistance to prisoners.
Fal Dessai has requested all citizens to participate in this awareness program and assist NALSA in creating legal awareness.
