West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee whose Trinamool Congress has unleashed a blitzkrieg in poll-bound Goa for weeks poaching members of other political parties aided by poll strategist Prashant Kishore's Indian-Political Action Committee (I-PAC) announced on Saturday via twitter that she will arrive in the State on October 28.
In a tweet early Saturday morning, Banerjee said: "As I prepare for my maiden visit to Goa on 28th, I call upon all individuals, organisations and political parties to join forces to defeat the BJP and their divisive agenda. The people of Goa have suffered enough over the last 10 years."
Nearly a month ago, Banerjee's party keen to expand its footprint across the country ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections, had made its foray in Goa public netting former chief minister Luizinho Faleiro who quit as MLA and his membership of the Congress to join the West Bengal outfit.
Another sitting MLA, Independent Prasad Gaonkar has also publicly announced support to the TMC. Her party is also reportedly in talks with Vijai Sardesai's Goa Forward Party (GFP), for a possible merger.
In another tweet, Banerjee also mentioned its slogan 'Goenchi Navi Sakal' (Goa's new dawn) in a bid to set a narrative that the party is serious and has set its eyes at forming a government through its Goa electoral foray.
"Together, we will usher in a new dawn for Goa by forming a new government that will truly be a government of the people of Goa and committed to realising their aspirations! #GoenchiNaviSakal," Banerjee's second tweet said.
