OLD GOA
A Covid safety message was emphasised at the Mandur Rural Health and Training Centre (RHTC), which is part of the Dept of Preventive Medicine, GMC, on Friday.
The Mandur RHTC conducted a small function to facilitate healthcare workers who have been working tirelessly since March.
This year, November 14 commemorates three events, Diwali, Children’s Day and World Diabetes day.
In his message, Dr Amit Dias, In Charge of RHTC Mandur and Assistant Professor at Dept.of Preventive and Social Medicine, GMC, appealed to people in and around Mandur to take care of diabetes during the Covid Pandemic.
Dr Dias said there had been a significant drop in Covid-19 cases over the last few weeks and he hoped it would stay that way.
“Together we can bend the curve, remember a Safe Diwali is a Happy Diwali. I urge all people to step up their efforts to ensure Covid appropriate behaviour at all times. Once again, the message is as simple as SMS: Sanitise, Mask to be worn appropriately, Social distancing to be maintained.”
“As we enter the festive season of Diwali, let us remember to avoid the 3 Cs: Crowds, Contact and Closed areas. There is no room for complacency. Do not delay in visiting the health centre if you have symptoms.”
“Cooperate with health services at all times. Ensure your co-morbidities such as diabetes are under control and look after the elderly. Do not take home isolation lightly. Be empathetic and respect your brothers and sisters,” said Dr Dias.
Stating that the future of the pandemic is in the hands of people and that the war is far from over, Dr Dias said each person is a Covid warrior and this title comes with a serious responsibility.
