A native of Maharashtra was arrested for illegal possession of ganja worth Rs 1 lakh, Mapusa Police said on Tuesday.
The accused was temporarily residing near Bodgine, Mapusa.
Acting on specific information regarding illegal drug activities being carried out at the parking lot, near Bodgeshwar Temple, a police team led Mapusa PI Neenad Deulkar conducted a raid and apprehended one Vinod Chavan (42), resident of Solhapur, Maharashtra but residing in Mapusa.
During the search ganja weighing 1.100 kgs worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from the accused who was taken into custody after conducting the panchanama.
An offence under section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act has been registered at Mapusa Police station and the accused has been placed under arrest.
