Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Saturday inaugurated a permanent toilet facility at Bogmalo beach thus completing a long-pending demand of locals and facilitating the international and domestic tourists arriving at the Bogmalo beach all through the year.
Speaking to the media after the inauguration, Godinho said that the toilet facility will come with a nominal charge for the users to help in maintaining and taking care of the facility.
"We have finally completed the long-pending demand of the people by having permanent toilet facilities at this touristic beach because this place has tourists coming all through the year and we also have huge local crowds during holidays. This project was very much required and it has become a reality finally. The facility has different latest technologies taken up by BITS Pilani, who had taken the initiative with the Bogmalo panchayat. There were many people who claimed that a toilet facility can never happen at Bogmalo beach but we have proved them wrong," said Godinho.
"The government takes up a lot of projects, small, medium and big projects but the most important is the maintenance of these projects which does not happen in many places. We will apply user charges to take care of the maintenance of this facility and whoever is employed by the Panchayat for this, will also be paid accordingly and the Panchayat will immediately put a mechanism in place to take care of this facility," said Godinho.
