The Special Leave Petition (SLP) filed by the Goa government challenging the verdict of the Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal failed to come up for hearing before the Supreme Court on Wednesday. Goa's legal team is now expecting the matter to be listed for Thursday.
The matter was supposed to be listed before Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatti on Wednesday, December 6, as said by Advocate General Devidas Pangam earlier. The Mhadei diversion matter failed to come up for a hearing, last week too, after being listed for two days.
Advocate General Pangam and his four-member legal team, Water Resources chief engineer Pramod Badami and his technical team, two consultants Chetan Pandit and M K Shrinivas are in Delhi. Two senior counsels Darius Khambata and Adv Venkatesh Dhond will represent the State.
The SLP filed by the State government in July 2019 was last heard on July 10 this year, wherein the Apex Court admitted Goa’s plea challenging the Mhadei Tribunal’s award.
