Min warns against misbehaviour with women tourists

PANAJI
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte on Tuesday warned that unruly behaviour by tourists will not be tolerated in Goa, noting that action has been taken against youth who harass women visitors, including by taking unsolicited selfies.

Speaking during Zero Hour in the Goa Legislative Assembly, Khaunte said some visitors behave irresponsibly while holidaying in the State. “Some youth think ‘Goa mein kuch bhi chalta hai’, but such behaviour will not be allowed,” he said, adding that the Tourist Police and Goa Police have penalised and arrested offenders in certain cases.

He said such conduct harms Goa’s reputation as a safe destination. Additional Tourism Police personnel will be deployed at beaches and tourist hotspots. The issue was raised by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar in the House.
