CANACONA
Power Minister Sudhin Dhavalikar on Friday called upon everyone to contribute and build a civilised and prosperous society.
Dhavalikar was speaking as the chief guest at the flag-hoisting ceremony near the Canacona Dy Collector's office to mark Independence Day.
“If every village in every State and Union Territory in India is developed, our entire country will be developed. This feeling of nation first should be ingrained in the hearts of every Indian. We got freedom through the sacrifices of freedom fighters and we should always remember their sacrifice,” said Dhavalikar.
Hailing the contributions of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Vallabhbhai Patel towards building a dedicated India, Dhavalikar also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for “unmatched development”.
CMC Chairperson Sara Shambha Naik Desai, Dy Collector Prataprao Naik Gaonkar, Councillors Ramakant Naik Gaonkar, Simon Rebello, Narcisco Fernandes, Shubham Komarpant, Amita Pagi, Mamlatdar Gajesh Shirodkar, Block Development Officer Praneet Naik, PI Harish Raut Desai, PI (Traffic) Gautam Salunke, wives of freedom fighters, officers of various government offices, employees as well as citizens, students and teachers were present at the event.
Earlier, Canacona police led by Police Sub-Inspector Babu Desai gave a guard of honour to the power minister.
Later, students of Katyayani Baneshwar Vidyalaya, Government Higher Secondary School, Lokvishwas Pratishthan Mokhard, St Teresa Higher Secondary School (Chaudi), and Government Primary School (Chaudi) presented inspirational songs and dances.
