Ministry of Education invites self-nominations for National Teachers Award 2025

PANAJI: The Ministry of Education has invited self-nominations for the National Awards to Teachers 2025, aimed at honouring exceptional educators who have significantly contributed to the quality of school education across India.

Teachers can register online at http://nationalawardstoteachers.education.gov.in till July 13, while the final submission deadline is July 15. The Goa Department of Education had issued a circular directing all Heads of Government and Aided Schools to inform their teaching staff about the application process and ensure wide publicity.

The awards celebrate teachers who demonstrate commitment, innovation, and have made a lasting impact on student learning and community engagement. Only regular teachers and heads of schools with a minimum of 10 years of service are eligible. Contractual teachers, Shiksha Mitras, and those involved in private tuition are ineligible.

A detailed evaluation process will follow, involving District, State, and National-level Committees, with shortlisted candidates making a presentation before an independent jury in August. The final awardees will be announced after the approval of the Union Education Minister, with the awards ceremony scheduled around September 5, observed as Teachers’ Day.

Selection will be based on objective criteria and qualitative performance in areas such as innovative pedagogy, joyful learning, use of technology, community engagement, mentorship, and foundational literacy initiatives. Teachers are also required to submit a portfolio and a personal statement highlighting the impact of their work.

For more details, applicants can refer to the official portal and guidelines.
