MAPUSA
Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza on Monday categorically said that MLAs belonging to the minority community have no issues with the BJP and some legislators may have some personal reasons to move on to further their political career.
D’Souza also said that right now it was difficult to analyse how much impact the alliance between MGP-TMC will have on the BJP but things will be clearer once elections are declared.
“I don’t think MLAs belonging to the minority community have any issue with the BJP. Maybe there are some people who feel that there is another movement going on and are doing it for personal reasons. As elections approach there will be a lot of sentiments like that,” D’Souza said.
The Mapusa MLA was responding to a query whether minority MLAs in BJP were feeling uncomfortable and isolated in the saffron party.
Ports Minister Michael Lobo and off late, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida have been publicly expressing their dissent against certain decisions of the party.
D’Souza said it was difficult to predict what impact the MGP-TMC alliance will have on the BJP but admitted that Mapusa seat was an MGP stronghold for many years until 1999 when his father late Francis D’Souza was elected on the Goa Rajiv Congress and later continuously on BJP.
“We will have to see how things turn out for the BJP. It all depends on how the public accepts the new alliance. Every constituency will witness a different situation. Once the elections are declared we will have more clarity on how things pan out,” he said.
He said the State government was putting all its effort to ensure that the best governance was provided to the people of Goa.
