PANAJI
The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has decided not to charge fees from the traditional Khajekars and Chanekars for their stalls at the church square during the Panaji Fair.
“The Panaji Fair has also been extended from three to seven days. This year, the exhibition will be held from December 8 to December 14,” said CCP Market Committee head Pramay Mainkar.
“The Chanekars and Khajekars are our traditional businessmen, and we have to promote them,” said Mainkar.
"Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate and CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate have taken this decision to benefit our local sellers,” said Mainkar.
“The CCP will, however, levy a fee of Rs 60 per square metre from other stall owners, informed Mainkar.
He said another exhibition will be held at the footpath along the Mandovi River and opposite the Market.
The Panaji Fair was not organised last year due to the Covid pandemic.
