The Margao Police has finally register a FIR against the Municipal Lower Division Clerk for cheating and criminal breach of trust after he failed to deposit Rs 17.96 lakh revenue from the Purumentachem fest fair into the Municipal treasury.
Margao Police station in-charge, PI Tulsidas Naik informed that the police have booked the employee under Section 408 of the IPC, besides Section 420 for cheating. PI Naik informed that the police is investigating the matter and is collecting evidence in the case.
After facing flak for inaction, MMC Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar had finally lodged a complaint with the Margao police on Tuesday alleging that the Municipal LDC had misappropriated an amount of Rs 17.96 lakh.
