MARGAO
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Wednesday has warned Chief Minister Pramod Sawant-led BJP government that it will face protests and complaints across Goa with regards to PWD works, if it fails to restart the works of Fatorda stopped by contractors. The MLA served a 24-hour deadline on the BJP government to withdraw the unwanted directions given to officers to stop the works, warning to teach the BJP a good lesson if the works do not resume immediately.
Addressing the media, Fatorda MLA along with Margao Municipal councillors of Fatorda claimed that works of around Rs 22 crore are being stopped by BJP. MMC Chairperson Lyndon Pereira, councillor Nimisha Faleiro and others were present on the occasion.
The Fatorda MLA said these all works were suggested by people of Fatorda through ‘Sunday Dialogue’ programme. “There are several works of road widening, road hotmixing, drainages and others. People of Fatorda will benefit out of these works. However, BJP government has stopped these works on behest of Damu Naik," the MLA said.
He added, “Entire South Goa people come to SGDPA market, where we had taken work of road hotmixing. But even this work has been stopped. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has instructed Principal Chief Engineer to stop these works. But after I contacted him, works were started. Now again the works have stopped on pretext that one committee will come and check whether these works are needed or not. These files were passed by Chief Minister, but the work has been stopped following sudden directions."
