Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo on Sunday emphasized the importance of consistent development, stating that basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity, and water supply should not be left for the election year but addressed throughout a legislator's term.
Lobo asserted that an MLA who fails to provide these essential services is "not worth it."
She highlighted the need for elected representatives to work proactively rather than rushing to complete projects just before elections.
"Good roads, electricity and water are basic necessities. If we cannot provide these within a five-year term, then we are not worth it “- no MLA is worth it," Lobo remarked.
Acknowledging the support of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, she credited him for ensuring that development projects in her constituency were carried out efficiently.
Lobo also urged politicians to seek votes based on their performance rather than making last-minute promises.
"One must work as per their conscience. Do not wait for the election year to start development. What can be done should be done as early as possible," she said.
She further stated that voters should recognize and reward genuine work. "People should say, 'You have done this work, and therefore my vote is for you.' That is how it should be," she concluded.
