Social activist Rupesh Poke has rejected allegations by Poriem MLA Deviya Rane who accused him of being a “habitual extortionist” and challenged her to prove them with evidence.
He was responding to comments by Poriem MLA Deviya Rane while she interacted with media persons in the Secretariat at Porvorim, in connection with the violence outside the Honda police outpost late Sunday night.
Rane had told media persons that the complainant “is well known in Honda panchayat for repeatedly filing complaints and then extorting money.”
“He has a long record of harassing locals with complaints about houses, loud music, or even religious events. People are fed up because this has become his pattern ” he files complaints and then looks to settle them for money,” said Rane.
Speaking to media persons, Poke said refuted the allegations by Rane as completely baseless.
“Let her provide evidence to back her claims. There are many who are involved in illegalities and I will not remain silent on these illegalities,” said Poke.
Responding to Rane’s claims that he files complaints and then looks to settle them for money, Poke said he has been in social work for the last 20 years.
“I am associated with an organisation and have helped many groups. I do not need the money for my social work as I am gainfully employed in a company,” said Poke.
