The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) has collected around Rs 30 lakh so far from the ongoing Holy Spirit feast fair at the Old Market. The money was raised by allotting over 200 stalls at the fair. MMC Chairperson Damu Shirodkar said the number of stalls is being monitored and the total revenue could increase over the next four days.
However, the Council is still unsure about recovering Rs 18 lakh that was misappropriated by a municipal staff member during last year’s feast fair.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Shirodkar said an inquiry has been ordered and the staffer, who has been suspended, has already attended two meetings with the Municipal Engineer. He, however, could not confirm when the lost amount would be recovered.
