The Navelim Panchayat has urged the PWD, National Highway Executive Engineer to conduct a safety audit of the compound walls constructed by the agency along the Navelim market-Bellem highway passing through the village.
The issue was raised at the Gram Sabha held on August 27 last to conduct safety audit of compound walls constructed along the site.
At the gram sabha meeting, member Harold Pinto brought to the notice of the Gram Sabha that during the Highway broadening from NH 17 to NH66 from Navelim Rosary Church till Avertano's Petrol pump, the PWD had constructed the boundary walls after razing down the existing walls for the road widening purpose.
He informed that the said compound walls are damaged/about to collapse. He proposed that PWD (National Highway) Authorities should conduct safety Audit of compound walls constructed by them and take up the repair work on priority.
The resolution was seconded by Joao Sousa Mergulhao before it was passed unanimously.
