Navelkars warn those patronising goondas

MARGAO
With a local lad coming under the brutal attack from an accused from the migrant-inhabited Fakirbandh locality of neighbouring Margao, Navelkars on Sunday rallied behind the victim to send a clear warning they will not hesitate to take on goons and their political godfathers, including Ministers and MLAs extending patronage to anti-social elements.

In fact, strongman of Sinquetim-Navelim did not mince words when he warned that people will retaliate against the Ministers and MLAs granting patronage to goods if any Navelkar is attacked by goons and anti-social elements.

Youth from Navelim assembled near the western bypass underpass construction on Sunday to take stock of the situation arising out of the attack on Cenvic Pires at Sirvodem on Friday evening. Taken aback over the brutal assault, they pointed out that the goons attacked Cenvic when he is innocent and was only requesting the two accused Ayub Sheikh, a resident of Fakirband-Margao and Anil Kumar, a native of Chaattisgarh to move their car from the road.

“We Navelkars have all come together in support of the innocent Cenvic Pires who was attacked by the goons. We want to send a stern warning to the goons that people of Navelim will not accept such attacks in the future. We will not leave them if they dare target our youth in the future”, thundered George Barreto at the meeting.

Referring to the news going viral on social media that accused Ayub Sheikh is a supporter of Margao MLA and Leader of Opposition, Digambar Kamat, George warned that the people will not leave any Minister or MLA extending patronage to goons. “Goondagiri is growing in Margao, but there’s no action. Recently, some people threatened a woman from Navelim of rape. We Navelkars are peace loving people, but there’s a limit to our patience. If we come out on the streets, we will not care the Ministers and MLAs who are supporting the goons”, he warned, further warning that the Ministers and MLAs will escape the wrath of the people.

Demanding that the two accused should not be released on political influence, George appealed to the Ministers and MLAs not to support the goons just to protect their vote bank. “If the outsiders continue to do dadagiri and target the locals, we will not keep quite. Even the Ministers and MLAs will have to leave Goa with the goons”, he warned.
