MARGAO
The SGPDA has requested the district Collector to clarify whether the SGPDA wholesale fish market can start functioning from Wednesday with restricted business timings for four hours from 2 am to 6 am.
SGPDA Member Secretary Vertika Dagur has written to the district authority after receiving a petition from the Margao Wholesale Fish Market Association with a plea to start operation of the SGDPA wholesale fish market from June 16.
“Due to the curfew imposed by the government, the SGPDA wholesale fish market is not functioning till date. It is brought to the notice by the Margao Wholesale Fish Market Association that unauthorized sale of fish is carried outside the wholesale fish market along the road side. They have agreed to follow all the Covid-related SOPs. Hence, restricted business timing between 2 am to 6 am to avoid overcrowding”, the SGPDA member secretary stated, while drawing the attention of the district Collector that most of the retail fish markets are presently functioning all over Goa.
