No scope or expertise to step in: Director of Education

PANAJI

With the spate of robberies by night taking place in school premises recently in Mormugao and earlier in the other parts of the State, the Director of Education, Shailesh Zingde said there was neither much scope nor any expertise for his department to step in and advise school managements in the matter.

Speaking to The Goan, Zingde said: "It is for the school managements and the police to work on these security measures for the campuses. The department cannot do anything," Zingde.

"Even in government schools such incidents have happened. But what can the Headmaster/Principal do other than having the bare minimum security guards on duty at all times?" Zingde asked.

He suggested that It is for the police to tackle, either by enhancing night patrolling in the area around school or advising school managements on security measures to be introduced.
