Amid his name making the rounds for a ministerial post, BJP Calangute MLA Michael Lobo on Monday said that he is not in “that race”.
His submission came on the Floor of the House after GFP MLA Vijai Sardesai hinted at his possible induction into the Pramod Sawant-led cabinet in days to come.
During the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor’s address, Lobo hailed the Sawant-led government on various initiatives including Swayampurna Goem, for successfully conducting the Exposition of relics of St Francis Xavier, western bypass among others.
Lobo’s statements took Sardesai by surprise considering that the coastal MLA, off late, was seen criticising the government. Sardesai said that Lobo’s praise of the government hints at possible changes as announced by the Speaker (Ramesh Tawadkar). To which Lobo smiled and said, “I am not in that race”.
The buzz on the cabinet reshuffle got momentum last week after Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar announced the possible changes within a fortnight or a month. Tawadkar had said that there have been speculations with regard to the possible induction of MLAs like Digambar Kamat, Nilesh Cabral, Sankalp Amonkar and Michael Lobo. “Everything will be settled in the coming days,” he had said.
