With the inflow of some domestic tourists, the small hotels and restaurants are managing the show in Covid times with minimum staff. The shortage of staff has affected the service of hotels and restaurants. Still, they are managing the show with minimum staff which has affected their service.
Now the picture in these hotels is that there are customers but the staff is not able to manage the service, and customers have to wait during peak hours of business.
At peak hours in a small prime hotel, you find customers waiting for hours for the orders to deliver. Due to the Covid pandemic, hotel management finds it difficult to get waiters and other staff to manage the hotels.
Many waiters who were retrenched from duty during the lockdown period have not returned to duties as they are in their native places so the hotels are managing the service with minimum staff. Also, due to fear of Covid, many waiters have left the job.
In AC special sections there is hardly any service now.
"We are feeling sorry for our customers that we cant give better service to them but we still try," said a manager of a leading hotel which has a chain of hotels in the cities.
The manager himself was seen running here and there helping his crew leaving the cash counter.
During the lockdown, the hotels had to stop the operation for more than four months. As the owners could not bear expense on the salary of the staff, many workers were relieved from duty during this period. Many workers went to their native places.
