Occurrence of holes in Mopa airport area: Archeology dept urged to conduct survey
The NCP General Secretary Sanjay Barde said that some local dailies have published the news along with photographs about some cave-like holes being found in the Mopa airport area.
“We met the director of Archeology with details about the holes and she has assured an inspection on February 12,” said Barde.
Barde said that according to locals these holes are historical caves of the area which were used for the secret movement of people in the olden days.
NCP has demanded a study of these holes raising apprehension that these holes may be dangerous for the movement of heavy aircraft.
“It is very dangerous for the upcoming airport in this area as the construction work is going on in full swing. It is yet to be finalised if this area is really fit to construct an airport because it will be dangerous for heavy aircraft to land in this area, if the main cause of occurrence of this hole is not found out in advance,” maintained Barde in the memorandum.
“....Please look into the matter urgently or else because of your negligence there may be a danger to the lives of the passengers and pilots of the aircraft in the future,” added Barde in the memorandum submitted to the Archeology director.
