The Old Goa panchayat served a notice cum stop-work order to the owners of the controversial Old Goa structure to immediately stop work on the structure upon receipt of the notice, failing which further action will be initiated.The notice was first pasted by the panchayat authorities outside the structure but later it was pasted on the structure when some labourers were seen inside.
The notice was issued to Jose Maria de Gouveia de Pinto, Suvarna Suraj Lotlikar and Sumermal Jain of Corvus Urban Infrastructures Ltd, after a resolution to this effect was adopted at the fortnightly meeting of the panchayat on Tuesday.
Panchayat authorities also informed that notices have been dispatched to parties at the respective addresses via registered AD
Speaking to reporters, Sarpanch Janita Madkaikar informed that apart from the stop-work order, the panchayat has also issued show-cause notice asking why construction licence and subsequent renewal licence should not be revoked.
“Another show-cause notice has been served for revocation of the house number issued in 2015 to the old structure,” Madkaikar added. “The panchayat has further decided to replace the lawyer representing the panchayat in the Supreme Court,” she said.
When questioned on the basis of which the notices have been issued, panch Vishwas Kuttikar said the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) permission had clearly mentioned that the structure should not be transferred.
“Also, ASI had stated that the permission is only for repairs and not for reconstruction,” Kuttikar added and informed that the parties are given seven days time to reply.
Stating further, panch Vishal Volvoikar informed that the panchayat received a file for transfer of the said land and structure in the name of Corvus Urban Infrastructures Ltd.
“However, the panchayat has kept the file on hold pending legal advice as the house number mentioned does not figure in panchayat records. There is a sale deed in the file in which the land and property has already been sold,” Volvoikar added.
“Therefore, the said party which has bought the property has also been served notice,” he stated.
