Only 384 applications okayed under 'Laadli Laxmi'in 2 years

The 'Laadli Laxmi' scheme which was started by the late chief minister Manohar Parrikar is been slow down in the tenure of Dr Pramod Sawant led BJP government for the last two years. 

In the last two years only 384 applications have been approved and around 23,961 are pending at various levels.

In the last two years, 3,532 applications have been rejected for various reasons. Late Manohar Parrikar has started this scheme in July 2012 to give the benefit of Rs 1 lakh for the marriage of women of age 18 to 45 years.

In the year 2020, the scheme was modified to give benefits to all women of all categories. To avail benefits of the scheme in the last 2 years from April 1, 2019, to May 9, 2021, around 15,333 applications have been filed. Out of this 539 applications have been rejected and only 384 applications have been approved. All other applications are pending before the government.

As per the information available, the scheme was very popular. Till May 9, 2021 a total of 97,126 applications had been filed before the government for the benefit of the scheme. Out of these total applications, 3,532 applications were rejected and 69,194 applications were approved. Presently 23,961 applications are pending at various levels.
