Amid rising traffic violations, the Transport Department issued show-cause notices to cancel permits of 18 tourist taxis for repeated violations of the No Parking rule on the Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, Panaji. Most of these taxis are particularly parked along the stretch housing casino offices.
In addition to these, Goa Police have issued notices to 210 violators under the Motor Vehicle Act for illegal parking in the same area.
As per the data, 1,070 violators have been booked for parking in no-parking zones along Dayanand Bandodkar Marg, from January to August this year.
The North District Collector, through a notification dated December 31, 2019, declared Dayanand Bandodkar Marg (Divja Circle to Miramar Circle) as No Parking to combat increasing traffic congestion and illegal parking of vehicles.
The Traffic Cell has also been deploying its officials during the late hours to clamp the violating vehicles and enforce parking regulations.
