MARGAO
The Global Konknni Forum has said the slogan “Amdharak Bhett - Kodel zai vo Romi zai” on its poster is not a threat but the MLAs are free to exercise their own free will and choose between Romi script or their chair without the Forum putting any pressure on them.
Saying that Kodel Zai vo Romi Lipi Zai is a title strategically chosen by the GKF Core committee, Forum president Kennedy Afonso said, “It’s totally their decision and we will abide by it. We chose the slogan because it’s catchy and resonates well with the people's desires and aspirations as far as Romi script issue is concerned.”
Saying the people of Goa will get the answer to this question (Kodel zai vo Romi zai) in the next Assembly session in December, Kennedy said, “We have given the MLAs two Bills. If the MLAs rise to speak in support of these two bills, it will prove to the people, that these MLAs have chosen Romi script over their kodel, and this will show, that they are truly with the people. If they don’t rise to support the two Bills, despite their respective constituency Gramsabhas passing resolutions, and people from the constituency meeting them personally, it will prove that they don’t care for the Roman script, nor the aspirations of the people, and are willing to sacrifice Roman script at the altar of greed, to protect their kodel.”
“Where is the question of dhamki (threat)?” Kennedy questioned, adding, “It’s a conscious decision the MLAs will be making voluntarily on their own power and wisdom in the August house.”
