PAC, PUC terms still valid, have not lapsed, says Speaker

PANAJI

The Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar on Tuesday clarified that the terms of public accounts committee (PAC) under Congress MLA Altone D’Costa and Public undertaking committee (PUC) under Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao are  yet to be lapsed and that the meetings held by both the committees, are valid as on date.

While the term of PAC will end in February 2026, the PUC will be reconstituted in the next financial year 2025-26, until then the existing panel continues.

Tawadkar on Tuesday held a meeting with Alemao, D’Costa and members of United Goans Foundation, who had petitioned the Speaker demanding the dissolution of the Committees, stating that their term has ended and they continue to hold the chair. In the petition alleging non-performance, the UGF delegation also sought action for any inefficiency.

Speaking to media persons post the meeting, both Congress leaders maintained that their panels are valid and the same has been upheld by the Speaker. Alemao also said that PUC takes up only those issues as pointed out by the CAG.
