Former sarpanch, Benedict D’Souza who is contesting under the banner of Parra United said the panel was getting good response and could overturn the local MLA’s applecart.
“At least four candidates from our panel will get elected. All other parties including BJP are supporting our Parra United panel. The pulse of the people is for change and it is going to happen,” D’Souza said.
Stating that the panel floated by the local MLA was rattled with the traction their candidates were getting, he alleged the opposition has been distributing money in the last two days.
He said people of the village suffered under the reign of the previous panchayat.
“A lot of wrong things were happening in the previous panchayat. There was a dictatorship in the panchayat. The sarpanch was coming at 12.30 pm in the office keeping people waiting for hours,” he said.
