In a major digital leap, the Super Speciality Block (SSB) at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) will implement the Hospital Information Management System (HIMS) from January, next month - an online system that keeps the data of the patients stored centralised.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday took to X to announce the proposed initiative - HIMS that keeps the data centralised through an online system, where it stores patients’ medical reports and keeps track of hospital functioning.
“This transformative initiative is designed to streamline hospital operations, improve efficiency and provide seamless access to patient records,” he said.
Rane said that with the advanced system, patients will experience quicker registration, faster diagnostics and enhanced overall care.
Currently, doctors are manually filling outpatient papers and directing them to follow up with previous papers to have a record of their treatment.
Meanwhile, Goa has been ranked as the top-performing State in the country on the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) scorecard for the first quarter of 2024- April to June.
The State excelled in key health indicators including HIV testing, linkages, STI/RTI reporting, screening of pregnant women and syphilis and more. Rane said that the remarkable achievement is a testament to the consistent efforts of all facilities.
