Pernem records 14th death, 19 new cases

PERNEM
A 79-year-old woman from Mandrem was the 14th person to succumb to Covid in Pernem, while 19 new cases were detected in the taluka on Wednesday.

According to reports, the woman had been undergoing treatment for pneumonia at GMC Hospital, Bambolim since September 20 and had tested positive for Covid during the same time. The final rites were performed in Mandrem on the same day.

The total death count in Pernem now stands at 14 with deaths reported in Keri (2), Arambol (1), Mandrem (2), Morjim (1), Parcem (2), Pernem (2), Alorna (1), Tambose (1), Ugve (1) and Ibrampur (1).

Meanwhile, 19 new cases were detected in the taluka on Wednesday, taking the overall tally to 1401.

The new cases were reported in Mandrem (4), Arambol (4), Morjim (1), Vazari (1), Dhargal (2), Tuem (3), Bhutwadi-Malpe (2), Torsem (1) and Poraskade (1).

Mopa is the worst-hit panchayat with 210 cases followed by Mandrem (172), Pernem town (111), Tuem (102), Dhargal (89), Arambol (83) and Korgao (76).
