PIL to unveil govt plan for SGDH to be soon filed in HC

GF says15-day deadline for setting up of ICU facility at hospital has lapsed

PIL to unveil govt plan for SGDH to be soon filed in HC

MARGAO

Conceding that the people of Salcete and South Goa could not unite a la Pednekars to demand full-fledged facilities, including ICU at the South district hospital, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai on Monday disclosed plans to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court with a plea to call Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to unveil government’s plan for the South district hospital.

He said it is unfortunate that the people of Salcete and South Goa have not united on the deteriorating situation at the South Goa district hospital. He, however, hastened to add that since the 15-day deadline set on the government to set up the ICU facility at the hospital has lapsed without the facility in place, a PIL will now be filed in the High court soon.

“I will go to the High Court with a plea that the premiere South Goa district hospital is being neglected by the government and would request the Court to call both the Chief Minister and the Health Minister to make a statement on the hospital. There is a conspiracy to kill the people of South Goa so that the hospital is being handed over to private players to set up a college”, he said.

When his attention was drawn to the agitation by Pednekars to get the controversial zone plan scrapped, Sardesai said, “People of Salcete are considered the revolutionaries. Salcete is a place of uprisings, but the new breed of politicians seemed quiet. They seemed chilled out and cool. They seemed to have lost touch with the ground reality. They are too much into politics”.

He added: “People know which party would have benefited the most from an agitation on the district hospital before the Lok Sabha polls. But, the political party seemed on a sleep mode”.
