Goa police have revived the public grievance redressal system, with Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Rahul Gupta directing Sub Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Police Inspectors (PIs) to hear complaints at their respective offices and police stations personally.
Gupta, who will himself meet citizens at three police stations over three days -- June 14, June 21, and June 28, from 11 am to 1 pm -- has also instructed that the SDPOs maintain records of visitors.
“SDPOs are instructed to hear the grievances put before them and should make all possible efforts to solve their grievances and give them timely solutions/ justice. SDPOs to maintain a record of visitors attended by them and follow up on the action suggested or directions issued. Additionally PIs of police stations shall be mandatorily available in the police station from 4pm to 6pm every day to redress grievances of the public,” reads the circular issued by the SP on Monday.
On June 14, public grievance redressal sessions will be held at Panaji, Old Goa, Mapusa, Pernem and Porvorim police stations. On June 21, grievances will be heard at Bicholim, Agassaim, Anjuna, Mopa and Calangute police stations. Finally, on June 28, the sessions will take place at Covale, Mandrem, Saligao, and Valpoi police stations. SP Gupta will be available at the Panaji, Bicholim and Covale police stations.
