In a significant development in the Amar Naik murder case, police at Mopa Airport have detained Reez Shaikh, the prime accused in the case, following his return from Dubai.
Shaikh, a resident of Chicalim, was apprehended at around 2 pm on Sunday after airport authorities received a tip-off and a Look Out Circular (LoC) was issued by Vasco Police.
After his detention, Shaikh was handed over to Vasco Police for further enquiry in the murder case.
Amar Naik of New Vaddem was shot dead in Bogmalo. Sources reveal that Vasco Police previously arrested three suspects related to the murder, though Shaikh, the main suspect, remained at large.
The LoC was issued as part of efforts to ensure his capture, and Shaikh’s earlier request for anticipatory bail had been denied by the sessions court.
