Prohibitory orders issued ahead of IFFI

PANAJI

In view of the ensuing 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, the North Goa District Magistrate has banned the assembly and gathering of five or more persons from November 19 to November 28.

The order issued under the BNSS, also prohibits taking out or organizing of processions, carrying of firearms or weapons of offences such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears; use of loudspeakers; shouting of slogans and burning of firecrackers near the petrol pumps and at the venues of meetings, etc. in any public place, street, road, square, thoroughfare, by-lane or in any open space within the radius of 500 mtrs around IFFI area under the jurisdiction of Panaji and Agassaim PS.

The film festival, which will showcase more than 240 films from 81 countries, 13 world premieres, 4 international premieres, and 46 Asian premieres, will commence on November 20.

PANAJIThe Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on Thursday extended the judicial custody of alleged history-sheeter Zenito Cardozo and seven others in connection with the attempted murder of activist Rama Kankonkar on September 18.The custody has been extended by 14 days, till November 26, when the court will review the matter again. The JMFC has also directed the Panaji police to file a charge sheet by November 18.Cardozo was among eight accused arrested for the attack.…
