Protesters get Nuvem MLA to tie up with other BJP MLAs on coal issue

MARGAO
After the initial uproar, the anti-coal protesters got the Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa to tie-up with other BJP MLAs, who are not in favour of coal and seek an appointment with Chief Minister to resolve the contentious issue of coal and other projects.

The group also drew the attention of the Nuvem MLA to take care and ensure that no work of the jetty at Rassaim starts, fearing that the jetty, once developed, may be used for coal transportation.

Ramiro Mascarenhas and Arvind Menezes later told the media that the group of people have requested the Nuvem MLA to get the MLAs from the BJP to unite against the projects and work out a solution to the controversial projects.

The delegation also asked the MLA to check on the commencement of work on the Rassaim jetty, saying they have noticed filling works on the other side of the river Zuari. “We want a stop to the work because development of the jetties is part of the Sagarmala project”, Arvind added.
