Public gets 30 days to submit objections to Pernem zoning plan

PANAJI

Amidst ongoing debate and controversy surrounding the draft zoning plan of Pernem taluka, the department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has granted 30 days time for the public to submit their suggestions and objections to the plan.

The move comes almost 48 hours after the TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane had a meeting with the Sarpanch, Panch, Chairperson and Councilors from the Pernem taluka assuring to take them into confidence before finalizing the plan.

Informing about the extension granted for receiving public views, Rane said that the suggestions/objections already received will be scrutinized and that a joint secretary level officer from centre will be assisting in the process.

The Minister said that he has received representations from  Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar, former Mandrem MLA Dayanand Sopte and Congress leader Ramakant Khalap.

"In view of these suggestions along with the representations received from various panchayats from Pernem, a decision has been taken to extend the date for suggestions and objections on the Pernem zoning plan. Suggestions and objections received already will be scrutinized and processed,' said Rane.

He said that expert committee along with the international consultant will scrutinize these suggestions and objections. They will also interact with the panchayats in Pernem taluka.

"Detailed presentation about the plan will be done in the panchayats." Rane said.

The Minister has already ruled out scrapping of the draft plan.
