Guess the number of Comunidade bodies in South Goa that could not elect the new Managing Committee for the triennium 2025-28?
Well, after four rounds of elections, which began on December 8, the number of Comunidade bodies where elections for the new Managing Committee could not take place due to a lack of quorum has reached 16 so far.
In fact, elections for as many as five Comunidade bodies, including Deussua, Orlim, Seraulim, Utorda, and Cansaulim, could not take place on Sunday due to a lack of quorum, bringing the number of Comunidades where the election process was left unfulfilled to 16.
The curtains will come down on the ongoing election process to elect the new managing committees for the triennium 2025-28 on January 19, after three rounds of elections on January 5, 12, and 19.
An official of the South Goa Comunidade informed that after the Administrator compiles and submits a report on the elections to the government, the government will then take a call on the constitution of the Comunidade bodies where elections could not take place due to a lack of quorum.
Out of the 90 Comunidade bodies in the South zone, the election process has been held for around 60 Comunidade bodies to date. The remaining 30 Comunidade bodies in South Goa will go to the polls during the next three rounds on January 5, 12, and 19, as per the schedule fixed by the Administrator of Comunidades.
